The New Jersey Association of Federal Program Administrators (NJAFPA), in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Education, is presenting its 37th Annual Spring Training Institute on May 23-25 at the Cherry Hill Hilton on Route 73 in Cherry Hill.

Acting Commissioner of Education Lucille E. Davy will present the keynote on Tuesday, May 23. She will also recognize Dr. William Mennies Elementary School, Vineland, and Hudson Elementary School, Union City, winners of the 2005 Title I Distinguished Schools awards.

Joyce Epstein, a national expert on community and parent involvement, will present a keynote entitled “Developing School, Family, Community Partnerships for Student Success” and a session entitled “Developing Programs/Practices to Meet NCLB Family Involvement” on Thursday, May 25.

Dr. Epstein is a professor of sociology at Johns Hopkins University and director of the Center on School, Family, and Community Partnerships.  She established the National Network of Partnership Schools in 1995 to demonstrate the important intersections of research, policy, and practice for school improvement.

In addition, the three-day NJAFPA conference is packed with sessions presented by various DOE representatives, school personnel, and vendors. Attendees may register for the full three-day conference or for only one or two days.
