DOE to Host Special Education Workshop
Educators interested in learning about special education laws and programs are encouraged to attend a professional development workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the Passaic County Public Safety Academy.
The workshop is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 300 Oldham Road in Wayne. It is the first of a three-part series on special education. The additional dates are Tuesday, Oct. 10 and Tuesday, Oct. 24.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Kathleen M. Rotter, an expert in special education law. Dr. Rotter holds both her doctoral and master’s degrees from Rutgers University, and her bachelor’s degree from The College of New Jersey.
Rotter’s background includes special education law, child study teams, assessment of students with disabilities and teaching students with disabilities. She is a former director of student services and coordinator of due process and mediation for the Department of Education.
