Acting Commissioner Orders Review of All Superintendent Contracts;
Parsippany Superintendent Contract Not Approved
In correspondence released today from Morris Executive County Superintendent Kathleen Serafino to the Parsippany Board of Education, the Department of Education made clear that a contract extension for the Parsippany Superintendent of Schools has not been approved. Today’s correspondence clarifies previous reports and statements from local officials indicating that the contract had been approved; those reports were incorrect.
Further, Acting Commissioner of Education Rochelle R. Hendricks today directed all Executive County Superintendents to conduct a comprehensive review of all superintendent contracts. Until such a review is completed, no contracts or contract extensions will be approved, and no contracts that expire after February 7, 2011, when proposed pay cap regulations will take effect, will be authorized unless they comply with the proposed regulations.
