Writing
All Together Now: Collaborations in Poetry Writing -
This K-2 poetry unit from EDSITEment provides students with the opportunity to respond to poems read aloud, identify musical elements of literary language, and recite short poems or excerpts.
Journal Writing Everyday - This Education World article examines the benefits of journal writing and provides a list of writing prompts.
National Writing Project is a professional development network that serves teachers of writing at all grade levels, primary through university, and in all subjects. Their mission is to improve student achievement by improving the teaching of writing and improving learning in the nation’s schools.
NJ Poetry Out Loud 2008-2009 encourages young people to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance. This exciting program helps high school students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage.

Read*Write*Think K-12 Lessons

Smithsonian Classroom Museum Writing Workshop - This online workshop for high school teachers shows how to use a museum exhibit as a basis for student writing. 
Water Uses and Children's Lives in East Africa - In this World Wise Schools unit, students compare their interactions with water to those of children in Kenya and Tanzania and discover that access to water helps define children's roles in the family. They demonstrate their understanding through essays and pictures. (Grades 3-5)
