| Time:
The total time for the operational test will be 70 minutes,
comprising two timed sections, one of 32 minutes and the
other 38 minutes in length. Testing time will be adjusted
as field test items are included in a test form.
Question Types: The test consists of 3 open-ended
(OE) questions and 46 multiple-choice (MC) questions.
One open-ended question is included for each of the
three broad content areas included on the test matrix:
Civics, History (including economics), and Geography.
The content and skills tested in the multiple-choice
items is reflective of the weighting given to the cells
of the test matrix, with sufficient items/score points
to allow for cluster-level reporting in both content
and skills.
Scoring: Each multiple-choice item is worth
1 point. Each open-ended question is worth 3 points
on a 0-to-3-point generic rubric and specific scoring
rubrics. The test, therefore, has a maximum of 55 possible
raw score points.
Format: Part I of the test (32 minutes) contains
1 open-ended item and 24 multiple-choice questions.
Part II (38 minutes) contains 2 open-ended items and
22 multiple-choice questions.
