Macro 3.3 Students construct and extend meaning when composing and crafting text.

Knowledge: To accomplish the writing macro, students should know:

WK1 that writing is a mode of thinking, learning, and communicating. 
WK2 that speaking, listening, reading, and viewing contribute to writing. 
WK3 writing processes. 
WK4 strategies for composing different modes of discourse. 
WK5  literary forms, elements of composition, conventions, and literary devices. 
WK6 audiences and purposes for writing.
WK7 that critical reflection and analysis contribute to the writing experience. 
WK8 that critical reflection on multiple perspectives and texts helps the writer construct meaning.

Skills: To accomplish the writing macro, students will be able to:
WS1 draw on experience to compose.
WS2 engage in the full process of writing. 
WS3 select, use, and adjust strategies to compose and craft text. 
WS4 select, use, and adjust elements, conventions, literary devices, and modes of discourse. 
WS5  select, organize, use, and adjust ideas to convey meaning in writing. 
WS6 evaluate their own writing using multiple sources.
