- Naturally occurring processes affect the environment. In some cases human activities also effect the environment. (climate change, ozone production, erosion, and deposition)
- The environment is a system of interdependent components.
- Human activities impact the cycling of matter and the flow of energy through ecosystems.
- Humans attempt to maintain balance within an ecosystem through protection, conservation, and preservation of natural resources.
- Sound scientific methods are essential in determining the degree of environmental impact caused by human activity.
