The following writing sample for the Sample Persuasive Writing Prompt A scored a "2" based on the New Jersey Registered Holistic Scoring Rubric.
Scorers made the following comments about the sample below:
The writer states an opening and closing with an attempt at organization. The writer provides reasons as to why a breakfast program would not be a good idea (... Kids who don't have enough time to eat breakfast can grab a bag and put what ever they want from the cart and go to homeroom. This idea is wonderful because kids wouldn't be so drozy during each classes). However, the ideas and supporting details are minimally elaborated which keeps this paper at the highlight level.
