The following writing sample for the Sample Persuasive Writing Prompt A  scored a "2" based on the New Jersey Registered Holistic Scoring Rubric.

Scorers made the following comments about the sample below:

This writing sample states a position and attempts to provide supporting reasons (I think we should not have breakfast inschool because the school day will be longer). The other reasons for opposing breakfast in school are loosely connected with no evidence of transitions. The syntax, lack of focus and supporting details demonstrate a limited command of language.
