Scorers made the following comments about the sample below:
This response is controlled and organized. There is a clear position stated that is supported with key ideas, transitions and appropriate details. The use of rhetorical questions, (Do you want this to happen to our school?) and figurative language (The room would shake as if there was an earthquake going on from all of the people around.) contribute to the sample's strengths. More consistent use of precise vocabulary, sophisticated syntax and more development of key ideas would be needed to move this paper to the next level.
