HOT NEWS - !!! Sheltered English !!! SIOP!!!

What is this? New jargon? Well… Sheltered English is a way to teach ESL/ELL. It is based on the SIOP protocol.

Content area instruction is in English, but at the same time, development of English language skills is emphasized in a subtle way. Subject matter is presented using contextual clues, such as demonstrations, experiments, and map activities, to help convey meaning. Student responses are focused on meaning rather than on form. There is no overt error correction.
