Parental Involvement Section 1111(d)
A state plan is required to describe how the state will support the collection
and dissemination of effective parental involvement practices to LEAs and
schools.
The role of the state is to support parental involvement activities
and disseminate practices that are based on the following:
- Apply the most current research that meets the highest professional
and technical standards and on effective parental involvement that
fosters achievement of high standards for all children.
- Are geared toward lowering barriers to greater participation by parents
in school planning, review, and improvement experienced.
Right-to-Know
Districts/schools
are responsible for notifying parents of each student that certain
information may be requested and provided by the LEA in a timely
manner in accordance with Parents Right-to-Know. Sec. 1111
(h)
- Inform parents they may ask about the qualifications of their
childs teacher;
- Notify parents in a a timely manner and in an understandable
format if a child is assigned to or taught by a teacher who is
not highly qualified.
- At
the beginning of the school year, LEAs must notify parents of the professional
qualifications of their childs teachers and include the following
requirements:
- Has met state qualifications
and licensing criteria.
- Is under emergency or provisional status.
- Has a baccalaureate
degree, certification in the discipline field, and other pertinent
education.
- Is child provided services by paraprofessionals, and,
if so, their qualifications.
