Suppose
you are a science teacher and you would like your students to engage
in a fun and educational activity focused on Earth Day. Let's pretend
the students are in 9th grade, and that they have been asked to
focus on one aspect (a "problem") of the environment.
Students will create a poster, and give a speech defending a position
with regard to their assigned "problem." The handout
will give information about the references.
The science standards you may want to use are 5.1, 5.2 and 5.12. You may want to include the writing standard, too, since the posters could be developed as persuasive "ads." What next? You brainstorm with your class and outline the qualities that are important in the poster. Remember, the relevant science test specifications may include: Systems, Problem Solving and Ecology/Environment. |
