A Guide to Getting Started (427 kb PDF )
PowerPoint
Presentation
The following PowerPoint slides were designed to accompany
the document entitled: Introduction to the New Jersey Professional
Development Initiative for School Leaders. The slides and introductory
document are intended to be used as an overview of the professional
learning requirements listed in N.J.A.C.
6A:9-16 which went into effect
in September 2004. The initiative seeks to build the instructional
leadership capabilities of principals, supervisors, and superintendents
through a standard-based and job-embedded approach to professional
growth.
The
learning tools and others providing more in depth guidance will be
updated through the first year of the new requirement.
This first year, the 2004-05 academic year, is a "developmental
year" for the initiative. The developmental year allows for training,
preparation and feedback from the field prior to full implementation.
This is part of the New Jersey Department of Educations commitment
to educators as we partner with the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors
Association, the New Jersey Association of School Administrators and
others to implement another meaningful, high quality professional learning
component within New Jersey education.
