UNSAFE
SCHOOL CHOICE OPTION POLICY The Unsafe School Choice Option Policy
was developed to comply with Title IX, Part E, Subpart 2, SEC. 9532
of the federal No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001. The intent
of the statute and the New Jersey Department of Educations (NJDOE)
policy is to provide safety and security for students and to prevent
unnecessary or extended interruptions to student learning. The policy
provides parents the option of transferring their children to safe
schools within the district when either: 1) Their children attend
persistently dangerous schools, as determined by the New Jersey Department
of Education; and/or 2) their children are victims of violent criminal
offenses. Compliance with the policy is a condition of receiving funds
under any and all titles under NCLB. Contact Person: Gary Vermeire,
