• More than 30,000 applications received for the Universal Service Fund by the Schools and Libraries Corporation (SLC).
• All applications will be notified in several waves by the end of January 1999.
• This third wave notifies agencies that submitted approximately 1000 applications.
• Total amount of Universal Service Funds committed in the form of a discount on eligible services for this wave: $27 million.

NEW JERSEY INFORMATION

• Total amount of Universal Service Funds committed to New Jersey in the form of a discount on eligible services in the third wave: $1,013,546.91. Total amount committed to New Jersey to-date: $4,970,838.36 (2.8% of national total to-date.)
• Total number of awards in NJ: 82. (NJ comprised 6.6% of the national awards.)
• Number of agencies notified in the third wave are: 36. Many agencies filed more than one application for separate services in the following categories:

One school (non-public) was awarded funding for internal connections: Pope John Paul II Elementary School in Clifton. The school receives a 90% discount on internal connections for local area networks for a total $66,195.00.
