FACTS ON NJ E-RATE FUNDING COMMITMENTS - 4 PART 2

NATIONAL INFORMATION

More than 30,000 applications received for the Universal Service Fund by the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD).
All applications will be notified in several waves by mid-February, 1999.
This fourth wave - part two notified only libraries that submitted 1,346 applications.
Total amount of Universal Service Funds committed in the form of a discount on eligible services for this wave: approximately $8 million.

NEW JERSEY INFORMATION

New Jersey's schools and libraries have applied for more than $74 million in E-Rate discounts.
New Jersey's E-Rate applications would directly benefit 63% of its public school districts, 50% of its non-public schools, and 33% of its libraries throughout the state.
Total amount of Universal Service Funds committed to New Jersey in the form of a discount on eligible services in the fourth wave: $193,139.94. Total amount committed to

New Jersey to-date: $5,795,691.45 (2.7% of national total to-date = $217 million.)

Total number of awards in NJ: 67. (NJ comprised 2.3% of the national awards.)

Number of libraries notified in this fourth wave - part two is: 32.
