HSTW coordinators will have the opportunity to address a variety of topics related to New Jersey’s High School Redesign Plan, implementation of HSTW Key Practices, recognition awards, school assessment and continuous improvement, etc., for network high schools.

Integrating Numeracy into Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Participants will work in school teams to build authentic CTE units of study which are fully integrated with rigorous mathematics.  Hands-on practices and materials will be provided.

Real-World Writing for Real-World Learning (Part I)

To prepare for work and postsecondary education, students need opportunities to write for real-world audiences and purpose.  Learn a step-by-step process for developing authentic assignments that can be applied immediately in the classroom. Follow-up homework will be given as a way to prepare for Part II session to be held in February 2009.

Learn how to review, interpret and use your 2008 High School Assessment data in order to make changes in curriculum, instruction and school practices that lead to improved student achievement.

Each school team will need bring a laptop computer and a copy of their individual 2008 Assessment Report on disk mailed from SREB.

This session is a continuation workshop from Part I.  Schools will have the opportunity to discuss and present strategies learned and implemented since fall training.  Additional   topics will include essential reading skills, the reading and writing connection and strategies to increase student comprehension.
