Ensuring Quality CTE Programs Through Program Re-Approval
The New Jersey Department of Education, Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE), is extending a special invitation to select school districts to participate in a technical assistance workshop to insure quality CTE programs in the career clusters of: Business, Management, and Administration; Health Science; and Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics. The NJDOE outlined in the Five Year Plan for Career and Technical Education a requirement for the periodic re-approval of CTE programs to insure program quality and to support secondary school transformation and economic growth. The OCTE developed, in consultation with its stakeholders, a process and application for CTE Program Approval/Re-approval. School distrcts with approved CTE programs in the career clusters listed above must submit an application for program re-approval by Wednesday, December 16, 2009, and are strongly encouraged to attend this workshop in order to prepare for and understand the mechanics of the new re-approval application process.
OCTE management and program staff will be on site on October 7th to present material, facilitate discussion and coordinate teamwork at this interactive, hands-on workshop. Attendees will leave the workshop with an understanding of the program re-approval process as well as the step-by-step instructions for completing the new approval/re-approval application forms, and all required deadlines.
