Chief Administrator, New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission

Sharon Anne Harrington is Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. She was first appointed in March 2004 and reappointed, by Gov. Jon S. Corzine, in January 2006. She directs nearly 3,000 employees at 80 locations around the state. Ms. Harrington is the fourth woman, and 21st individual, to lead the organization in its 100 years of existence.

Ms. Harrington serves on the State Ethics Commission, a position to which Gov. Corzine reappointed her in February.

Ms. Harrington is a council member and past chairperson of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.

Before joining MVC, Ms. Harrington most recently directed U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg’s New Jersey operations. Before that, Ms. Harrington was a partner with Public Strategies Impact, the Trenton professional firm.

Ms. Harrington was a deputy campaign director for former Gov. Jim Florio.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Ms. Harrington makes her home in Trenton and is a graduate of Glassboro State College, now Rowan University, in Gloucester County.
