Trenton, NJ – Honoring and reflecting on the loss of the twenty children, six educators, and the grief endured by their countless family members, loved ones, neighbors and the community of Newtown who were the victims of the senseless and horrific acts of violence at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday, December 14, 2012, Governor Chris Christie today signed Executive Order No. 122 for a statewide moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, December 21st.

“The people of New Jersey join our entire nation in mourning each of these lives that was taken senselessly far, far too soon,” said Governor Christie. “Tomorrow, I ask that every New Jerseyan observe a moment of silence to reflect on those lost and to offer to the people of Connecticut and the community of Newtown the comfort of our thoughts, prayers, and unity as single people bound together by this unthinkable tragedy.”

Governor Christie previously ordered all State buildings to fly flags at half-staff in mourning of the passing of the Newtown shooting victims.
