UPDATE ON THE CONDITION OF GOVERNOR JON S. CORZINE

5:30 p.m., Tuesday April 24, 2007

Corzine Spokesman Anthony Coley this afternoon released the following statement:

“Governor Jon S. Corzine is resting comfortably at Cooper University Hospital in Camden where he is listed in stable condition.  He had physical therapy earlier today and was moved from his bed to a chair, where he sat upright for more than an hour. He continues to eat a normal diet.

“The catheters that were placed in his back to deliver anesthetic locally have been removed. The left chest tube is still in place to drain fluid from the area surrounding his lung. The governor is no longer receiving IV antibiotics; he is now taking them orally.

“As mentioned in previous updates, the governor has shown some signs of tracheo-bronchitis. This continues to be treated effectively with antibiotics.

“The governor is showing no other sign of infection or complication at this time.”
