Deputy Chief of Staff
Al Alvarez has worked in the Governor’s Office since 2006. In his current role as a Deputy Chief-of-Staff Mr. Alvarez is responsible for coordinating outreach efforts to New Jersey residents, communities, and civic organizations, as well as addressing concerns among specific constituencies.
Previously, Mr. Alvarez served as a Cabinet Liaison working with select cabinet members and their departments on addressing day-to-day operational and management issues. Mr. Alvarez has also served as a Policy Advisor where he developed policy initiatives and implementation plans in the following areas: affordable housing, homelessness, poverty, immigrant integration and LGBT rights. Prior to joining the Governor’s Office Mr. Alvarez was an associate at the firm of Waters, McPherson, McNeill, P.C. where he primarily practiced in the areas of governmental affairs, mass torts and general civil litigation matters. Mr. Alvarez also clerked for one-year in the New Jersey State Appellate Division with the Hon. Joseph F. Lisa. Born and raised in New Jersey, Albert J. Alvarez received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Seton Hall University and a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark.
