Chief of Staff to Governor Corzine
Ed McBride was named Chief of Staff by Governor Jon S. Corzine on December 15, 2008. As Chief of Staff, Mr. McBride serves as advisor to the Governor on matters related to carrying out the Governor’s agenda of reform. Mr. Mc Bride oversees policy matters and supervises the staff members of the Administration.
Since February 2008, Mr. Mc Bride served as Chief Counsel to the Governor providing advice on an array of legislative, legal and policy issues. Prior to that, he was Deputy Chief Counsel for the Governor, a post he held since the beginning of the Corzine Administration. As a member of the Governor’s senior staff, he works closely with the Governor and other senior Administration officials on a broad range of subjects, including budget and fiscal matters and property tax reform. His principal responsibility as the Chief of Staff will be to manage the day-to-day operations of the Governor’s Office.
Mr. McBride is a 1981 graduate of Georgetown University and was an Eagleton Fellow at Rutgers University, where he earned a Master’s degree in political science in 1986. In 1989, he graduated with highest honors from Rutgers School of Law – Camden.
He was an Assistant Counsel to Governor James J. Florio from 1990 to 1993, and was Deputy Chief of Management and Operations for Governor James E. McGreevey and Governor Richard J. Codey in 2004 and 2005. Between these positions, he was in private law practice, and also served on the Merchantville-Pennsauken Water Commission for seven years. During Governor Corzine’s successful gubernatorial campaign in 2005, Mr. McBride served as Policy Counsel and later served as Counsel to Governor Corzine’s Transition.
Mr. Mc Bride is married and has two children.
