Weekly Schedule

  • Scholars will have the opportunity to partake in Core Courses such as Physics, Statics, Calculus, Chemistry, Information Technology and Futures in Engineering.
  • Physics, Statics, Calculus and Chemistry are held four days a week. Each student will select three of the Core Courses.
  • Engineering Orientation Lectures ' A brief overview of each of the specific fields of Engineering offered as degree programs at the college. Describes the major fields of study, as well as the Engineering profession in general.
  • Speakers, seminars, colloquia, and IT certification are found throughout the week.
    All students will take an orientation course that promotes an understanding of the relationship between the Internet and research.
  • Students will have Scientific Methodology the first week and Using the Internet as a Research Tool for weeks 2,3 and 4.
  • The Ropes Confidence course on Saturday afternoons provides an opportunity for students to challenge themselves and learn about how they work both individually and in teams.
  • Project teams consisting of 10 students will be assigned a specific research activity. Projects will represent various Engineering disciplines, led by an Engineering professor and guided by a project team mentor.
  • Laboratories meet twice a week with no more than ten students per lab. Students will select from a choice of eleven labs: Physics, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering(robotics), Mechanical Engineering(automotive), Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering(manufacturing) and Virtual Reality.
  • Information Technology meets twice a week. All participants will earn IT Certificates from Rutgers School of Engineering.
  • Electives meet twice a week. Each student will select one elective from the following: Engineering Law, Engineering Economics, Engineering Ethics, Engineering in Popular Culture and Creativity in Engineering.
  • Colloquium speakers round out the curriculum weekly, offering insight into the infinite possibilities connected to the field of Engineering. Topics, such as, Effective Communication, How Things Work, Current research topics, Diversity in the Workplace are areas of consideration.
