Weekly Schedule

The weekly schedule is structured around five interacting components:

  • The Intensive Course, in which students focus on one particular topic, and through assignments, research projects, and discussion gain knowledge and skills to address environmental problems. These courses are taught in the morning from Monday through Saturday.
  • The Integrative Seminar, scheduled in the afternoons, in which students are given an opportunity to explore and clarify personal feelings, ideas, and perspectives as they relate to issues raised in the intensive courses and in the evening forums.
  • Field trips are an integral part of the intensive course learning experience. Students gain valuable "hands-on" experience in a variety of habitats throughout New Jersey.
  • The Evening Forum further enriches the learning environment with debates, lectures, and workshops on a wide range of environmental issues.
  • Students also have the opportunity to participate in the performing arts program in which their creativity and expression is encouraged as another avenue to explore environmental issues. The students also enjoy recreational and social activities.
