Governor’s Inauguration Jon Corzine was inaugurated as the new governor of New Jersey on January 17. The inauguration is a special series of events and ceremonies to welcome and honor the new governor as he or she officially undertakes his or her new responsibilities.
Governor Corzine’s inaugural festivities began with six celebrations over three evenings from January 11-13. On January 15, Corzine held a special children's inaugural event. The event provided an informative and entertaining opportunity for kids to learn more about our state and its governing process.
In honor of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the governor organized a special volunteer day of service to show that the inaugural is truly a celebration of our state and its people.
On the morning of the inauguration, festivities began with an interfaith prayer service in Princeton before the official swearing-in ceremony at the War Memorial in Trenton.
