The New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) has experience maintaining confidential data collected for the public health surveillance of a variety of diseases and conditions such as cancer, HIV, TB, occupational health exposures, and elevated blood lead levels. Project data will be collected and maintained in the same confidential and secure manner as other surveillance data. Project staff have been trained to conduct confidential data collection and data storage.
DOH is the official organization within the State of New Jersey responsible for collecting information on a variety of health conditions, including deaths, births, injuries, illnesses, impairments, hazardous exposures, and utilization of health care services and facilities. DOH is also responsible for establishing and maintaining appropriate mechanisms to acquire, produce, and safeguard the confidentiality of these matters.
