The New Jersey Prevention Health Education Network (NJ PHEN)

NJ PHEN is a free program of the STD Program that connects sexual health professionals and initiatives throughout New Jersey . The purpose of NJ PHEN is to strengthen and expand STD prevention education efforts throughout the state by providing members with educational materials, funding resources, training opportunities, and opportunities for collaborative efforts among member agencies. Through a regularly updated web site and regular meetings, NJ PHEN members are able to connect with one another and gain support for their STD prevention efforts. Professional Trainings

The STD program offers free professional trainings on various topics related to STD prevention and sexual health such as STD overview, risk-taking, behavioral change, adolescent development, etc. Numerous traditional and web-based professional trainings offered by other agencies are listed on the NJPHEN web site .

Outreach Activities

The STD Program coordinates outreach activities designed to inform and educate at-risk populations and encourage STD prevention, screening, and treatment. Web–based and other media venues are utilized for outreach activities.

Educational Materials

A variety of brochures and booklets are available free of charge in limited quantities. Topics of materials include: STD information, safer sex, abstinence, communication and assertiveness, teen sexuality, etc. Materials are available which are geared toward specific populations. Some brochures are available in Spanish. Please visit the NJ PHEN web site to order brochures and booklets.
