MISSION:

The mission of the New Jersey Immunization Program is to reduce and eliminate the incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases affecting children, adolescents, and older adults through immunization.

MAJOR PROGRAM ACTIVITIES:

• Implementation of New Jersey Immunization Action Plan
• Implementation of the New Jersey Immunization Strategic Plan
• Monitoring of Chapter 14 Regulations for school children
• Administration/management of Health Service Grants for New Jersey
• Provision of policy recommendations on vaccines and scheduling
• Support of local immunization coalition efforts
• Conduct School/Child Care Annual Immunization Survey
• Operation of NJIIS (New Jersey) Immunization Information System
• Operation of New Jersey Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program
• Technical Assistance to local health departments and private physicians
• Conduct or guide vaccine-preventable disease investigations
• Coordination of NJ Immunization Program with WIC and TANF sites
• Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Project
• Outbreak control coordination
• Immunization education and training
• Distribution and printing of immunization information
• Monitoring of college immunization regulations
• Monitoring of hospital employee immunization regulations
• Monitoring of immunization validation audits of schools and child care centers
• Support National Infant Immunization Week activities
• Support of National Adult Immunization Month activities
• Compilation of local health department retrospective surveys
• Perform statewide retrospective immunization level survey
• Support the Essex Metro Immunization Coalition (EMIC)
• Support the Newark Immunization Initiative
• Management of the Hepatitis Inoculation Fund
• Technical assistance/support of older adult immunization activities
• Designation/management of designated Yellow Fever stations
• Assessment of on-going immunization levels for selected providers
• Guidance/management/administration/protocol development of vaccine and related issues for selected providers
• Special events/studies
• Provision of travel immunization recommendations
• Support National Influenza Vaccination Week activities
