Change in municipality reporting:
The 2004 data year was the first time it was possible to run death data through a process to correct inaccurate municipality assignment. Therefore, data are tabulated for residents of all 566 New Jersey municipalities.
Change in race reporting:
In 2004, New Jersey adopted the new U.S. standard death certificate format which includes the option for respondents to select more than one race for the decedent. Therefore, a new category called “Two or More Races” appears in Table A.
