Gloria M. Rodriguez, DSW
Dr. Gloria M. Rodriguez is the Assistant Commissioner for the Division of Family Health Services. She is responsible for the implementation of the Federal Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Block Grant of Services for Women, Children and Families, the Preventive Block Grant, the Office of Primary Care, Office of Nutrition and Fitness, Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion and the Women, Infant and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC).
Dr. Rodriguez has been with the Department since 1986 in positions of progressively increasing responsibility including: Assistant Commissioner for the Division of AIDS Prevention and Control; Director of Research and Information Systems for the Division of Addiction Services; and, Program Manager for the state’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Needs Assessment research contracts with the Federal Centers for Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment.
Dr. Rodriguez is an adjunct Assistant Professor at the UMDNJ School of Public Health where she teaches Community Organizing and Advocacy for Health. Dr. Rodriguez received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Masters of Social Welfare degree from Rutgers University and her Doctorate of Social Welfare from Hunter College Graduate School of Social Work, Graduate Center, the City University of New York. She also received, from this same institution, the Humana Dissertation Fellowship Award.
