Asthma Awareness Month

May has been designated as “Asthma Awareness Month” and May 3rd is "World Asthma Day."  Asthma is a serious chronic disease of the lungs that causes swelling (inflammation) in the airways.  It is estimated that asthma affects approximately 735,000 New Jersey residents a year.  During the month of May, the focus will be on increasing the public’s understanding of asthma, environmental asthma triggers, and asthma management.  For more information on Asthma Awareness Month, events and asthma resources visit
