The consortia are private non-profit organizations, incorporated under Title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code of the United States Code Section 501(c)(3) and are licensed and regulated by the NJ Department of Health as central service facilities. They include, as members, perinatal and pediatric providers, hospitals, consumers, and community-based agencies, including any group or individual with an interest in health services for families.
What do they do?
The consortia’s primary functions are to provide prevention activities, consumer and professional education, total quality management, data analysis, infant and pediatric follow-up, coordination of perinatal/pediatric transport systems and the development of comprehensive perinatal/pediatric regional plans.
How are they funded?
The consortia receive financial support from all of the hospitals in New Jersey with maternity and/or pediatric services as well as their members.
