ONF, the Nemours Foundation and the ShapingNJ Child Care workgroup convened a kick-off meeting for the Nemours-funded NJ Early Care and Education Learning Collaboratives Project (ECELC). The initiative will create five learning collaboratives around the state and provide training and technical assistance to 30 early care and education centers (ECEs) in each collaborative for a total of 150 ECEs each year for the next 5 years.
More than 40 early care and education stakeholders attended and learned about the new initiative during the kick-off. Collectively, the group identified the location of the collaboratives, determined the curriculum to use in the project, identified criteria for those providing the training and technical assistance and decided other key program components.
A project coordinator and 10 early care and education trainers will administer this project, which is set to launch this summer. The project team will travel to Atlanta, Georgia at the end of May to attend a national training with five other states also funded through Nemours to implement ECE learning collaboratives.
