Reports were received from 100 schools from the following counties: Atlantic (4), Bergen (2), Burlington (4), Camden (3), Cape May (7), Cumberland (3), Essex (3), Gloucester (3), Hudson (1), Hunterdon (4), Mercer (1), Middlesex (11), Monmouth (19), Morris (13), Ocean (2), Passaic (4), Salem (4), Somerset (1), Sussex (3), Union (5), and Warren (3).
The reported absenteeism rate among school students was 6.69%, which was up from 6.44% last week.
Reports were received from 50 nursing homes from the following counties: Atlantic (4), Bergen (3), Burlington (5), Camden (3), Cape May (4), Cumberland (3), Essex (1), Gloucester (1), Hunterdon (4), Middlesex (2), Monmouth (3), Morris (1), Passaic (4), Salem (4), Somerset (1), Sussex (3), Union (3) and Warren (1).
The reported influenza-like illness rate among nursing home residents was 2.70%, which was up from 2.53% last week. Last week's number is different from what was reported last week due to additional reports received for last week.
Reports were received from 48 hospital emergency departments from the following
counties: Atlantic (1), Bergen (5), Burlington (1), Cape May (1), Cumberland
(2), Essex (2), Gloucester (1), Hudson (8), Hunterdon (1), Mercer (3), Middlesex
(4), Monmouth (4), Morris (2), Ocean (3), Passaic (1), Somerset (1), Sussex
(2), Union (5) and
Warren (1).
The reported influenza-like illness rate among Emergency Department patients
was 8.81%, which was up from 8.37% last week. Last week's number is different
from what was reported last week due to additional reports received for last
week.
There have been eight isolates of influenza A virus reported in New Jersey so
far this season, two from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital from residents
of Middlesex County, three from McGuire Air Force Base from residents of Mercer
County, and the remainder from Hackensack University Medical Center from residents
of Bergen County (New Milford, Hackensack and Elmwood Park). In addition to
these culture results, there have been numerous reports of influenza antigen
tests that have been positive in the past week.
