Bariatric Surgery

In October 2005 the Department of Health and Senior Services released its first report on bariatric surgeries performed in New Jersey using the 2003 hospital discharge data. This report resulted from discussions and recommendations of the work group formed by the Department to assess bariatric surgery prevalence in the State. Since there is no bariatric surgery registry data in New Jersey, analysis relied on hospital discharge data supplemented by death records.
