  Hospital Patient Care Staffing

Doctor examining patientNew Jersey law requires hospitals to compile and report information on the number of staff involved in direct patient care.
Hospitals must post staffing information daily in the facility, provide the information when requested by the public, and report monthly to DHSS.

This site is designed for acute care hospitals to submit their staffing reports, and for the public to view quarterly reports the Department posts based on hospitals’ reported data.

Because the 2005 law also applies to nursing homes, DHSS is working to make that information available in the future.

New and Noteworthy

October -- monthly reports due by November 30, 2009; Fourth Quarter 2009 -- Revisions, deletions, additions to October, November and December reports are accepted until January 31, 2010.

All fourth quarter data submitted by midnight on January 31, 2010 will be used to calculate the quarterly report. Changes to the fourth quarter data will not be accepted after January 31, 2010.
