Statewide Distance Learning Network

The Office of Public Health Infrastructure continues to work with Rutgers University, Cook College-Office of Continuing Professional Education in maintaining and improving the Statewide Distance Learning Network for public health professionals.

We have built this network in partnership with colleges, universities, hospitals, local health departments, and other organizations that currently have the capacity to downlink satellite video conferences. It is our goal to establish a downlink site within every county, thereby making distance learning programs readily accessible to our busy public health workforce. In assessing the capacity of each site, we will also be determining their current and future technologies as they apply to other electronic distance learning media, e.g., Internet-based education and training. In this way, we will be assuring that the system can grow as learning methodologies expand in new directions.

The Office of Public Health Infrastructure has been identifying and delivering nationally recognized public health education and training programs broadcast by CDC's Public Health Training Network and other organizations.

We look forward to continue to expand this exciting new initiative as an important addition to our other education and training opportunities as we build the competencies of our public health workforce and their delivery of the highest quality health services to New Jersey citizens.
