The Division of Health Facilities Evaluation and Licensing of the Senior Services and Health Systems Branch of the Department of Health and Senior Services is proposing to readopt N.J.A.C. 8:39, the Standards for Licensure of Long-Term Care Facilities.  The proposal appears in the October 2, 2006 issue of the New Jersey Register.

The Department is also proposing substantive and technical amendments throughout the chapter.  The proposed substantive amendments include the incorporation by reference, as new appendices, the application forms for licensure and licensure renewal; the addition of a fee for applications to reduce services or beds; and the articulation of hearing rights for the denial, suspension, or revocation of approval of a nurse aide training and or skills competency evaluation program.

The public has until December 1, 2006 to comment on the proposal.  Persons wishing to comment on the proposal must submit their comments in writing to Barbara Goldman, R.N., J.D., Office of Certificate of Need and Healthcare Facility Licensure, Division of Health Facilities Evaluation and Licensing, Department of Health and Senior Services, P O Box 358, Trenton, NJ 08625-0358.  Written comments on the proposal must be postmarked on or before December 1, 2006, which is the close of the 60-day public comment period.
