DHSS Clarifies Appropriate Use of Prophylaxis
Antibiotics and Swab Testing for Anthrax
The Department
of Health and Senior Services today issued an advisory
to health care providers discouraging the routine use of nasal swabs
for assessing patients concerned about exposure to anthrax and clarifying
the use of prophylaxis antibiotics.
