TRENTON
- Acting Commissioner Clifton R. Lacy, M.D. of the Department of
Health and Senior Services issued today the following statement
upon learning of the death of John D. Slade, M.D.:
"I
am saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Slade. Public health has
lost a great friend and advocate. On behalf of the Department of
Health and Senior Services, I extend our condolences to John's family
and his many friends.
"Dr.
Slade was an outstanding physician and, as a member of the state
Public Health Council, was a vital contributor to the direction
of public health in New Jersey. Indeed, Dr. Slade served as chairman
of a council committee that developed regulations that, when adopted,
will set new practice standards for local health, improving New
Jersey's ability to respond to disease outbreaks and other public
health emergencies.
"Dr.
Slade was also a strong advocate for tobacco control programs and
initiatives. He will be missed by his many friends and colleagues
at the Department and in the health care community," said Acting
Commissioner Lacy.
