Safeguarding public health and saving lives
The Division of Public Health Infrastructure, Laboratories and Emergency Preparedness (PHILEP) provides strategic and operational leadership to coordinate New Jersey’s local public health agencies, laboratory services and emergency preparedness and response.
The Division oversees the Office of Emergency Preparedness, Office of Emergency Medical Services, Office of Local Public Health and the Public Health and Environmental Laboratories.
PHILEP programs also interact with other government agencies on federal, state, county and local levels in all preparedness activities as well as partnerships with private and non-for-profit sector organizations.
PHILEP has developed a strategic plan that details the many activities that this division will undertake in preparing and responding to public health emergencies. This plan will be the guiding document for the Department’s Master Plan for Preparedness – which will outline specific responsibilities and activities that will be undertaken before, during and after emergencies.
