GEAR UP Professional Development

ATTENTION ALL NJ GEAR UP EDUCATORS

As you already know, many of your students have been enjoying the benefits of the partnership between your school and NJ GEAR UP for the past several years. The program provides academic support and college preparation activities to prepare students for higher education. NJ GEAR UP also seeks to provide professional development opportunities for teachers by offering customized training in the school.

We encourage you to request FREE professional development for the current academic year. Through this initiative we hope to provide educators the opportunity to learn new educational strategies, collaborate with their peers, and create better, more effective classrooms and schools. To achieve this goal, NJ GEAR UP will:

• Identify, schedule, and pay for presenters and trainers
• Work with you to provide training that meets your needs
• Provide professional development hours (Provider #4706)

We ask that in return, the school provide a contact person to assist with scheduling, room, allotted time for training (e.g., in-service days or hours), and equipment. We also ask that at least ten teachers participate in each training session you request.
