New Jersey Commission on Higher Education Announces
List of Online Degree Programs Posted to Web Site

The New Jersey Commission on Higher Education today announced a new centralized resource of online degree programs being offered at New Jersey colleges and institutions.

Many colleges and universities across the United States offer online degree programs and post information about those programs on the internet. The National Center for Education Statistics in Distance Education at Degree-Granting Postsecondary Institutions: 2006-2007 reported that 7,400 college-level programs are offered totally online by colleges across the nation. The number of these programs being offered at New Jersey institutions of higher education, which are regionally accredited and located in the home state, is increasing.

According to Marguerite Beardsley, Acting Executive Director of the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education, “all of us are familiar with the many advertisements for online degree programs that appear on almost every web site we visit. New Jersey’s colleges and universities also offer many of these programs and consumers now have a central source for information about them.”

There are currently thirteen institutions listed on the Commission’s website, including community, state, and independent colleges and universities. The programs are complete degree programs, not courses or certificates. They range from associates and bachelor’s degrees to post-graduate degrees.

Some of the programs being offered are associates in business, computer science, criminal justice, fashion marketing and management, health technology and administration, humanities, information systems technology, liberal arts, and social sciences.

On the bachelor’s level, there are programs in accounting, aviation technologies, business, communications, computer science, criminal justice, homeland security, humanities, information technology, marketing, management, nursing, and social sciences.

Post-graduate programs include master’s and doctorate degrees in education leadership, and master’s degrees in business administration, computer science, emergency management, engineering management, homeland security, human resources management, nursing, and sports administration.

While this posting will help consumers who are looking for online degree programs in New Jersey to identify the colleges and universities that offer the programs they are looking for, it is only a partial list. The Commission hopes to provide updated information as it is received from the institutions. To view the list or for more information about New Jersey’s colleges and universities, go to the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education web site.
