Program Description:

The mission of the SMART Program is to increase the awareness and interest of traditionally underrepresented

minorities in science and health-related careers. The program offers students a chance to practice and develop

"high order" thinking skills and the domain-independent competencies necessary for academic and workplace

success. The program, designed for students grades 8th through 12th, is a set of precollege activities, including

leadership training, problem solving, math and computer classes, college tours, and oral and written presentations.

The students spend their time not only learning but having fun.
