| Program Description: |
| | This program is designed to encourage talented students to consider careers in the mathematical sciences. Students |
| | participate in an intensive four-week academic program that provides a challenging introduction to discrete |
| | mathematics; a new area of the mathematical sciences with many applications on the cutting edge of modern |
| | research. Students develop and enhance problem-solving abilities by applying mathematical concepts to a wide |
| | range of problems. They meet distinguished professionals in the field of discrete mathematics who serve as role |
| | models and mentors. Teaching assistants who are embarking on their own careers in mathematics provide additional |
| | academic support. Students also have an opportunity to participate in a year-long research project. |
