TRENTON-The Division of Youth and
Family Services (DYFS) and the Prudential Insurance Company of
America are sponsoring the Trenton Gift of Warmth Challenge the
week of November 26th to collect scarves, hats, gloves
and mittens for New Jersey’s 6,300 foster children.
Representing each foster child, donated gloves and
mittens will be used to decorate a holiday tree in the War Memorial
lobby in observance of Foster Children’s Day on December 12th.
All of the clothing items will then be distributed to foster children
throughout the state in time for the holidays.
"With one small gift, each of us can help a
foster child experience the true meaning of the holiday season,"
said DYFS Director Charles Venti.
Donations of scarves, hats, gloves and mittens are
being accepted November 26th - 30th at the
following Trenton locations: the lobby of Capital Center, 50 E.
State Street; Capital Place One/Department of Human Services,
222 S. Warren Street; and DYFS Mercer District Office, 127 S.
Stockton Avenue, 2nd Floor.
Donations may also be mailed to DYFS’ Trenton Gift
of Warmth Challenge, 127 E. Hanover Street, Trenton, NJ 08625.
Foster Children’s Day was established last year to
increase awareness of the needs of New Jersey’s foster children.
