The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a special tax benefit for low-income working families and individuals. It may lower the amount of federal and state taxes you owe, increase your tax refund and also may provide you with a refund, even if you do not owe any taxes.
To get the NJ state EITC, you must file a federal tax form, be eligible for the federal EITC and file a state income tax return.

EITC information flyer (pdf format in English and Spanish).
