Families First Card

Work First NJ TANF and GA clients and Food Stamp clients access their cash assistance and Food Stamp benefits by using the Families First card, which is part of New Jersey's Electronic Benefits System (EBT). The card is similar to a bank card; clients use a secret Personal Identification Number (PIN) to use the benefits that are deposited into his or her account.

Clients may use the Families First Card:

• At grocery stores to spend their Food Stamp Benefits, or to spend their cash
benefits to buy items that cannot be paid for with Food Stamps.
• At some stores that accept the card, to withdraw cash benefits.
• At Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) to withdraw cash from their accounts or to find out the balance in their cash account. (They cannot check the balance in their Food Stamp account at an ATM.)

Customer Service Number: 1-800-997-3333

Clients may call the Customer Service Number:
• If their card is lost or stolen
• If they need help using the card
• If they need to check an account balance
• If they have a question about a purchase or withdrawal transaction at a retail store
